I don't use margin as the year 2000 taught me some valuable lessons about using margin <g. Depending on the brokerage the new rules allow up to 4x margin I believe. Under these rules the brokerage can track your account in 2 different ways. The time and tick method tracks only your open positions when calculating a day trading margin call. The total commitment method tracks all positions entered into open and closed. Geez and we thought it was tough trading. The money management using margin is tough.
