I just saw "Road to Perdition".
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this a solid 8.5.
Few movies of late have kept me interested enough not to doze off at the slow parts -- but "Perdition" will keep you interested right through.
Tom Hanks can probably expect another Oscar nomination; even Paul Newman shouldn't be surprised to receive a supporting actor nod.
If you can stand a little realistic gun-violence, I can recommend this movie as one in which you won't be disappointed.
Several critics have made mention of the cinematography, and they're quite right. If you remember the scene in "Godfather II" where Vito Corleone goes with Clemenza to steal a carpet, and the duo gets interrupted by a mailman knocking at the door, whom Clemenza prepares to shoot instantly if the mailman enters, you'll understand the kind of "painterly" feel to a scene that I'm talking about.
Plus, I just got sick of this board lying here unused!
