They get a slap on the wrist, a fine that usually equals
less that 1/4 of what they took in, and they can't be a
company officer for 5 years. The SEC has no power to put anyone in jail, and unless the DOJ, the IRS, or FBI get involved, they are home free. That's why the otcbb, and pinks
are so profitable to scammers, the SEC has no power.
Most times, there are so many people and companies involved, the fine to whoever is caught is often less that 10% of the total fruad.
