Viva. I am confused and admittedly still learning... The long term capital gains benefits were lost on the run from $0.10 to $0.16 not to mention any PPS increase they would pay for on-the-way to covering which could be sick!!! LOL Whoever is holding these short positions want this down in PPS at the time of covering to maximize their gain. Using "ballpark averages" the capital gains savings would save $0.25 per $1.00 using 35% (pre cap gain) vs. 10% (post cap gain). Any benefit is gone isn't it? They would have been even MORE wise had they covered at $0.07.
Am I missing something about the percentages for Cap Gains as they relate to short covering/naked short covering?
