How does a company move from Pink sheets to NASDAQ or AMEX or NYSE ?

I'm hearing that the next step after sales announcement would be for the company to move to the NASDAQ or other major trading platform.

How do they do this? Are the current stocks converted to different ones? How does that affect prices?

Sorry if these questions sound stupid. I'm proud to say I'm a Newbie...
