Oil keeps the cartel alive they would try to stop the introduction of any viable form of alternative energy. The catch is we also benefit from oil being the primary form of energy through petro dollars and an attempt to keep our sole superpower status through the control of oil and pipelines. Through this command of oil, the primary source of energy, we could keep the world in slavery. Our hegemony does not rely solely on military power. If every country could manufacture or easily obtain an abundant form of alternative energy that would take a tremendous amount of power away from the United States.

The key is in this excerpt, to the United States this is about control.

The U.S. is not interested in Caspian oil to supply its own internal industry. The U.S. is grabbing for control of the Caspian oil fields because other countries need this oil--and because the U.S. wants to control them. Other imperialist rivals--including Germany and Japan--are "energy poor" and need access to oilfields outside their borders. Most Third World countries are heavily dependent on imported oil.

These benefits I believe in part account for why we have been all talk and little action for 30 years because we did know the problem; we refused to act on it.

If we seriously wanted an alternative form of energy, if that alternate form of energy traded as lucratively for the U.S. as oil, if that alternate form of energy could help us remain dominate, I am thinking with all our power we would have found a way to shove it past the cartel, we would be much further along in research or we would have the alternate form or forms of energy by now.

In playing such a game, you are probably right, we have helped create a crisis and it is now.
