There is certain material that is required to be turned over in the procedural rules. Brady material is basically anything that is exculpatory. Brady also goes into capital cases and encourages a standard of full disclosure. Normally the rules for each state or the Fed give guidelines when discovery should be requested and turned over. Pro se doesn't affect that unless you don't ask for discovery. That's a whoops.
