I was thinking of it from the rebels point of view. If I had to pick a place to make a stand, Grozny looks like a pretty good one. Once rebels are dug into mountains they are not so easy to get out. Tanks do not work so well on mountain slopes<g> Troops do not do as well fighting uphill against dug in rebels.

Grozny is set up pretty well as far as mountains go. Everyway in is through a mountain valley. I can see why the Bushies chose these rebels to support. As I recall Moscow has largely done a bombing campaign against Grozny. Now with all those dead school children it looks like the gloves are off in Grozny. Things sure are heating up on many if not all fronts going into this election. I wish I knew more about the political timing of the rebels attack on the school kids. Am suggested it had to do with local elections in Grozny. Has Bernstein done in any in depth coverage of the situation in Grozny recently? I can only hear him over the internet these days and my connections are often very slow.
