Two U.S. Soldiers Killed by Baghdad Car Bomb Sat Sep 18, 2004 03:43 PM ET
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A car bomb killed two American soldiers and wounded eight when it exploded in Baghdad on Saturday, the U.S. military said in a statement. The military said the soldiers were on their way to the site of a previous car bomb explosion when they were attacked. Three U.S. vehicles were destroyed in the blast.
The U.S. military did not give the location of the attack. But it earlier said that three soldiers were wounded in a suspected suicide car bomb attack on the road to Baghdad airport.
Residents living near the airport road said there had been at least two loud explosions in the area Saturday afternoon, shattering windows and sending thick black smoke into the sky.
