mm, that "junk" from China may include parts for your "American Made" auto, much of your computer, your DVD and other consumer electronics, light bulbs and fixtures for your home, stamping dies, luggage, toys, sporting goods, hardware, power tools (including many by "American" brands), housewares, and office supplies.

If you wanted to have a household made up only of US products, you'd probably have a pretty empty house, or live in a cardboard box.

Many US building materials are imported from Canada. If people want to buy American, they'd better go all the way and do some DNA testing on their 2 x 4's from Weyerhauser.

It's a global economy. You can make something, and you can also design, engineer, and distribute something.

American companies prefer to let someone else make it, and that's a normal evolution in economic theory, driven in part by American consumers who want more stuff for less money.
