That Reuters HCV newswire is apt to leave some readers confused because it uses the term genotype to refer to human genotype rather than viral genotype without making it crystal clear that it is doing so. For instance:
“If you look at individuals with the good response genotype, about 80 percent of them will be cured. If you look at individuals with the poor-response genotype, about 30 percent of them will be cured…”
Someone who was not paying close attention might assume this excerpt was referring to the much higher rate of SVR in genotype-2/3 HCV than in gentotype-1 HCV, but the excerpt has nothing whatsoever to do with HCV genotypes.
“The efficient-market hypothesis may be the foremost piece of B.S. ever promulgated in any area of human knowledge!”
