My wife's uncle installed carpet for years. He retired at about 76 mostly because his son didn't want to lay carpet anymore. The worst thing for her uncle was his wrists. He can hardly use his hands anymore because of the stress of all those years on his wrists. He is about 87 now. Her grandfather quit smoking at about 78 he lived to be 104.

My take on these things is kind of strange I guess. Removing asbestos seemed to cause an even greater health danger in many ways, not to mention the disposal problems. I feel the same way about lead paint. I look at these things more as important for the future health of everyone involved. Like the pool drain thing, it is important to make sure everyone is aware of the problem and important to make sure everything that can be done is done to make sure it doesn't happen again. If that takes a multimillion dollar court case, so be it.
