Biofuels might be politically correct in North America, but they are going thru bad times in Europe where Germany and England (two big producers) have eliminated their subsidies.

Non-food feedstocks in most parts of the world are simply not feasible.

Growing of Palm in Asia comes with the issue of slashing and burning the tropical rainforests and that has environmentalists upset.

Jatropha is poisoness to consume and is not frost resistent. Same for Castor.

Algae is where the dream lies but that is not commercially viable at this time.
