Ironically...many people who blindly go to college assuming the degree will automatically mean they will earn more money over their lifetime are taking a substantial risk today. When the percentage of the population graduating from college was 35% that may have been true, but as the percentage of the population attending college eclipsed 50% that assumption is no longer valid.
