Regarding the case of provenance of the CBS/Killian Memos.

If they are ultimately proven to be fakes, then there is a high likeliehood they are a Rove-ist dis-information and dirty tricks operation. Draw attention away from and discredit the credible evidence and sources for how Bush gained entrance into the Guard, failed to serve and avoided punitive action, and got an early out by putting phony evidence out.

That would be the perfect dirty trick.

A thorough examination of the originals and documentation of a chain of custody of these Memos would be critical in determining their authenticity.

I would like to know more about how CBS obtained them, who they obtained them from, where that person obtained them, and how CBS authenticated them.
