My take on that is Mac and BS have been working together alot longer than people think. They've obviously come to some sort of agreement on what they want to do. Mac's incentive, imo, is the merger and thus has gone to work on it even before accepting the post. In reality, Mac never had to accept the post at Pinnacle to workout deals when it's the merger that will set him up nicely.
