Yes, you are right in what you state and you can live your entire life and never contract tetanus. You are smart to cleanse any wounds with antiseptic. Just because you haven't seen it does not mean that it doesn't happen. I have seen a patient with tetanus and it is a horrible illness. One vaccination may or may not give lifelong immunity. That response depends upon the individual. Checking a tetanus titer will confirm immunity. Your point illustrates perfectly why generalizations don't work well in this area of debate as the issues are very complex. Egg allergies are a contraindication to vaccination for the very reason you state, so you should not have them. I am not allergic and hence can take the vaccination if I choose. Yes, there are potential side effects -- but all of life has potential side effects. "The world is getting to be such a dangerous place, a man is lucky to get out of it alive." W. C. Fields . Physicians don't believe the only way to treat disease is with toxic drugs or even non toxic drugs. There are many non toxic alternatives available. Physicians have become lazy because patients, too, have become lazy. Why go on a diet, quit smoking, and exercise when its easier to take a pill and watch TV? Why would a physician spend time explaining the benefits of proper diet, exercise and healthy living when the patient isn't going to listen and just complain that the physician didn't do anything and just said "you're fat". It is easier to take 10 seconds and write a prescription than to take 10 minutes and waste your breath. Everyone is to blame to some degree.
