The fraud stems from the drug companies buying off politicians. Politicians pass laws favoring the drug companies, insurance companies, and hospitals. The AMA is not the true voice of individual physicians and has become a puppet for all of the above corruption. The media continually passes propaganda focusing on individual physicians so the public will blame the doctors and not the ones who are really corrupt. The media has the masses fooled into thinking individual physicians are all greedy corrupt people who would sell your life for a free lunch. This is simply not true. Granted there are some corrupt physicians in unique positions that do unethical fraudulent things for very large sums of money. It is true that average physician in your community used to get an occasion lunch and some free pens in exchange for listening to some drug reps sales pitch. Most physicians couldn't tell you the name of the sales rep or even the drug being sold if you asked them the next day. The drug reps can barely speak medical language and don't make much sense and as such are largely ignored. There is a lot more to this healthcare issue that the public is not being told. But individual physicians have already been written off by the public as greedy and uncaring because of the wonderful propaganda campaign. If we could, let's stop talking in generalities and focus on more specific items, as it is the only way to fully grasp the complexity of the issues. Instead of talking about all drugs or all vaccines, we should focus on more specifics. For instance, tetanus vaccination is a good thing. Don't know if you ever seen someone with tetanus--it is not pretty and usually fatal. However, mandatory hepatitis vaccination for newborns--this is ridiculous. So why is it individual doctors do something good on one hand and then something equally bad on the other? Give me your thoughts and then I'll give you mine.
