You should refer the question to Allen et al
We know safety was not the reason. I doubt it was stopped due to Zetia's effectiveness or Niaspam's superiority. The more likely reason for termination, imo, is that Niaspan arm did not show any meaningful effect on mean change in the intima media thickness (IMT).
