from talking to iraqis the situation seems that 90% are very thankful that Mr. Bush came knocking, but are unable to protect themselves agaisnt the few who cause the problems in post war Iraq. thes are people who are either outsiders or are sunni or shiite all of whom are getting money from outside to promote their own or outsiders interests. So the bogging down is a deliberate , well funded attack on Iraq and America rather than some kind of popular movement that shows how unpopular the evil crusders are. This is not my view its given to me by people there.

So where does this leave us? its unclear to me. having a power base in the middle east is a good thing.

trying to develop a country which has good resources, a good universtiy system and a majority of people who do want security and democracy is a good thing. Putting aside disbeleif and hoping that an Islamic country in the middle east could have the people potentialto join the modern world is a good thing

So I think the terrorism in Iraq is very much like the terrorism in Israel or in Moscow or in chechnya or in various African wars. if we cannot figure out how to solve it in Iraq, it will come to the USA and elsewhere.
