I am not really in the mood this morning to debate the wonders of George Bush so I will tell you this instead.

Women in Afghanistan never had more rights than under the Soviet sponsored Government. The opposition to that Government cost them dearly. The funding of Islamic mujaheen by the Reagan administration did little but create the problem we are dealing with today. Al Qaeda was formed in 1988.
The main theme then was anti communist at all costs. These are the costs. Why we are so willing to spend $130 billion in Iraq or upward of $400B a year to wage war but unwilling to spend those sums to wage peace is something I will never understand.
