What 'words' deserve Capital punishment??
Ever thought about it?
We are taught 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me'.. Do we actually believe that? There aren't many people who would not agree that Jesus Christ was the kindest, most compassionate, peaceful man alive, right? Every area of his life was impeccable and self-less.. He dedicated his life to the good and service of others so clearly even the athiests will agree. So what provoked the children of Israel the 'chosen of God' to such vehement anger that they would instantly stone this man to death? Did Jesus kill anyone? Did he ever steal? Did he commit adultery? Never....... He spoke words that 'all other things being equal', were not allowed. I suppose if he were not so highly esteemed among the people, he would have been written off as a lunatic or something. But people DID esteem him. People WORSHIPED Him! So if he never 'did' anything worthy of death, what in the world could he 'say' that would warrant such penalty in the minds of these prideful, power hungry religious leaders? To 'them', blasphemy. To all of man and the UNIVERSE, the truth!
Just look at the undoctored events where Jesus life seemed threatened as a man just for the 'words' he spoke..
---------------------------------------------------
John 8:59
"At this, they picked up stones to stone him.."
John 10:31
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
John 10:35
Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.
John 11:8
“But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews tried to stone you, and yet you are going back there?”

....So what 'where' these words??????
John 8:56 '...“I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”'
John 10:33 “We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
