Homeland Security called to Atlanta explosion See also: <a href='read_msg.asp?message_id=3846678'>#msg-3846678</a> <a href='read_msg.asp?message_id=3846748'>#msg-3846748</a> Underground explosion goes off near state Capitol ATLANTA (AP) -- An underground explosion near the state Capitol in downtown Atlanta sent flames and smoke pouring from manholes early today. The explosion happened around 1:15 am. A Georgia Power Company engineer says it was caused by an electrical line that exploded and burned. Traffic has been blocked on two streets (Martin Luther King and Piedmont) in the area as authorities investigate. No injuries have been reported. Homeland Security officials also have been called to the scene.
