War is ugly. Viet Nam was particularly unpopular and particularly brutal. Even Colin Powell carries his own demons as does Bob Kerrey and others, but what I find most outrageous is that those in the highest levels of government, who didn't have the guts to serve in Viet Nam, vilify the service and patriotism of those who did. Viet Nam was so unpopular and so turbulent that Viet Nam vets where literally spit on when they returned home. Our Executive Branch sees fit to spit on their service again, and these are the same clowns who also vilify anyone who does not support the Iraq war unconditionally as unpatriotic and not supporting our troops.
