They shouldn't. I sure wish I knew the history on that.
How can one serve when one doesn't deal with the same problems is beyond my understanding.

To think all one needs to do is serve one two year term and they are set for life financially it sure does explain why people spend hundreds sometimes millions of their own $$$ to get into office.

They look at it as an investment. Unfortunately you and I are paying for it. Never heard of such insane benefits before.
