Green Bay Packers first round draft pick Javon Walker has been quite impressive during the team's minicamp. "He's been great," Packers receivers coach Ray Sherman told the Green Bay News Chronicle. "He's gone overboard, studying, asking questions. He's way ahead of schedule." The News-Chronicle reports that since Sterling Sharpe caught 55 passes as a rookie in 1988, no Packers rookie receiver has caught more than 12 passes (Robert Brooks in 1992).
Views Most first-year receivers have trouble understanding the Packers' complex offense, but Walker might be the exception through hard work. There's a big difference between Walker and Robert Ferguson, who missed last year's minicamps with a bad back and never studied the play book hard. Javon has a chance to make an impact as the Packers' third receiver.
