The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the Vikings are growing a tad weary of Derrick Alexander's tour of NFL teams and are shifting their focus to another free agent wide receiver on their short list, Antonio Freeman. Coach Mike Tice said he would be satisfied if the Vikes signed Alexander, Freeman, or Keenan McCardell. Freeman has yet to schedule any visits, but could be in Minnesota next week. The paper reports that he met with his agent, Joel Segal, Tuesday night. "The most important thing is finding a system that fits Free the best," Segal said. "He's very interested in the Vikings. There's no question they're one of his top priorities." It's worth noting that Freeman played for current Vikings wide receivers coach Charlie Baggett in Green Bay.
Views As predicted on Fanball.com on May 29, the Vikes are going to settle for Freeman. It's a good situation for him, but we have to wonder how much he has left after watching him the last two seasons. Free won't augment the fantasy value of Daunte Culpepper as much as Alexander or McCardell would have.
