Because it's good for everybody. If you encourage the rich to do nothing but get richer, we will go back to the times when only the very wealthiest owned homes, and when someone owns nothing, he has nothing to lose. Would you want most of our population to have nothing to lose? I wouldn't. Think about it. People on the bottom of the economic totem pole need hope, not more taxes. Give them the hope that, if they work hard and avoid trouble with the law, one day they could own their own home and have a better life for their children.
