Not necessarily. Again, it's a matter of perspective.
The right seems to focus more on the DEATH of Jesus as atonement for SIN, rather than on the LIFE of Jesus as a model of MORALITY.
We can assume their focus is misguided, but this is the US and they can believe whatever they like.
As for their socially intrusive belief in Christian dominionism or Christian nation, they can believe that too. If they act on it, we have a legitimate socio-governmental concern. They're making progress.
The Nazis had some strange ideas about their relationship to some god too. They also called themselves "christian." Civil government works best when secular, not theocratic. History proves this time and again.
There is a theocratic force at work in this country.
