His testing shows a good profit using the 1X2 ema crossover and corroborates the Astrikos stuff. One of the tests is wrong, obviously. I don't know which one is, however.
When one talks about real world, the net profit is what it comes down to. And my own ema crossover - which is based on the 1X2 ema cross on the daily, but pulls it down to the 30 min. chart to reduce whipsaw drawdown, netted me around $65 on SMH in about the last year.
This is not the best system out there by any means. A good daytrader likely could have netted well over $100. But, it works for me.
I am all ears for anyone who can give me something that works better. I don't mean that as a challenge. If someone could give me a system that is more profitable, I'll drop the ema crossovers in a hearbeat. But, so far, after 2 years of manually testing dozens of indicators and systems, the crossover is as good as anything else. There are lots of other things that work, but not any better or worse than the crossover. And really, none of them were much better than 50% good trades vs. signals.
Trading is much more position management than anyone is willing to admit IMO.
Now, of course if you want to just bottle your system and send it my way, I would be forever grateful. :^)
