LLY TEVA Preliminary injunction of generic Evista issued

Lilly says judge prevents launch of generic Evista

LOS ANGELES, April 22 (Reuters) - Eli Lilly and Co (LLY.N) said on Wednesday that a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction preventing the launch of a generic version of osteoporosis drug Evista.

Lilly said the action by Judge Sarah Barker of U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana blocks Israeli drugmaker Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (TEVA.TA) from launching a cheaper copycat form of Evista until the court renders its final ruling.

Lilly previously sought and been granted a temporary restraining order to prevent the generic launch.
