I wonder if part of the reason for the typical religious
version of our origins was simply to throw us off track
and hide the truth. Obviously, folks will question or seek
to know what their origins are... if some wish to hide it,
they need to replace it.

of course, the way it's been promoted serves a host of
other objectives..
