Harrah's, MGM Mirage make Fortune 500 list

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Casino operators Harrah's Entertainment Inc. and MGM Mirage Inc. are again listed among the country's largest companies, according to the latest Fortune 500 list.

The magazine released its 2009 rankings Sunday, which are based on 2008 revenue. The magazine says 2008 was the worst year ever for the companies on its closely watched list, with overall earnings falling 85 percent. That's the largest one-year decline in the list's 55-year history.

Harrah's reported $10.1 billion in revenue in 2008 and ranks No. 263 on the list. MGM Mirage reported $7.2 billion in revenue and ranks No. 344.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. fell just outside the list at No. 519.

Texas-based Exxon Mobil overtook Wal-Mart to take the No. 1 spot with $442.85 billion in revenue in 2008.
