Baseball's revenue sharing system, if you can call it that, is responsible for the problems the Pirates, Royals, and other small market teams have. If they shared revenue like the NFL, it would be a much better system. However, much of the new ownership has taken on debt that is dependant on the current revenue streams, so they can't really alter it now. Furthermore, the recent selling prices of teams to buying syndicates also reflect continuation of the current system. Those folks would not allow a change, as the big market clubs would take a huge beating in an NFL-type revenue sharing system.
