RobNThaQC -- well the recent/current ones certainly can't be touched in terms of both bang for the buck (including comfort/driver-friendliness) and reliability in a true sports car platform -- and for that matter power on pump 93 in a built car (apart from the occasional built Viper) -- have had the 427 TT in mine for three years now -- have pushed it hard plenty, don't care to think how many times I've hit the 6700-rpm rev limiter under throttle, lol -- never a problem, loves to run, can pound on it all day long and all it ever says back is 'is that all ya got!?' -- mine doesn't even noticeably use oil between changes (where some oil usage, say 1/4 quart or so per 2000 miles, is considered normal even in sedate street driving)
of course, some of those more expensive ones out there are pretty f-ing remarkable in their own right even compared to a built Corvette -- the Koenigsegg CCXR ( http://www.koenigsegg.com/models.php?model=ccxr&model_submenu=info ) comes to mind -- and there are other built cars -- certain Porsches, the occasional Viper, even still to this day the seemingly immortal Supras
