Google started off the day saying it will sell 24.6 million class A shares in its initial public offering at $108 to $135 each. Then, the search engine’s Web site crashed.

Blame that on a new version of the MyDoom computer virus, which spread so quickly that many Web surfers received error messages when attempting to use Google.com today. The new virus also hit the Yahoo, Altavista, and Lycos search engines, according to antivirus firm McAfee. By 3:10 p.m. ET, however, all those search engines appeared to be working normally.
