From today's release: "We anticipate substantial revenues from these programs and increased traffic at our Cafe as they commence."
I've sent an email to ask about the nature of the classes to be offered. The release mentions interest from the community but . . . as a Microsoft oriented developer the following thoughts come to mind:
HDC becomes an MSFT Certified Partner in relation to education. The only reason for becoming a certified partner in that regard is to be able to officially offer MSFT curriculum courses and become a designated official training site. Such courses often go for $400 and up per day.
Combine an official training site with a cafe environment in an area of town where there are hotels and suddenly you have a completely different critter than just a themed internet cafe.
Folks, if this is what Mr. Z is doing he may very well be onto something. Most of the class environments/locations for the MSFT official courses are sterile places stuck in business parks. Given the choice between that and a course at a cafe facility with full internet access and hotel within walking distance . . . this is one geek that would go for that choice every time. There's an awful lot of geeks whose companies spend a lot of money sending them to training.
