CT, Is what I am reading correct? France, Germany and Russia frequently take the same side. However not in this case if Germany is still pressing for allowing Kosovo to vote on independence which would be opposed by Russia and not recognized by Serbia, or Macedonia and Greece.
First of all, do you remember when the Russians beat NATO to the Airport in Kosovo? Do you know if the Russians ever gave up control of the airport in Kosovo? Remember our mad bomber Madeline Albright saying that the airport was of no strategic importance? Take a look at your oil pipeline map of the Balkans and see how laughable that statement is now.
Some say that with EU the Germans have taken over Europe again. This time without firing a shot. I will wager that you will find many of those people in the F.R.Y.
If there is a vote for Independence in Kosovo today the Albanians will have taken away Kosovo from the Serbs. NATO and Clinton essentially delivering in part on Titos promise of a greater Albania. Less than a year ago Milosovichs thugs were still in control in Belgrade. His wife left for Moscow before indictments came down against her but the network was still intact. This is the same network that Moscow helped shoot down the stealth Bomber. The Germans want to push a vote that will take away Kosovo from them and the Russians are going to bat for the Serbs yet again. Not hard to figure out who the Serbs would rather have in their backyard.
June 12, 2004: Serbia is demanding that NATO attempts to bring peace in Kosovo be scrapped and the province be divided into Serbian and Albanian portions. The Serbs are still angry over the March riots by Albanians, that left 19 people dead, over 900 wounded. The two days of violence also resulted in 4 000 people, mostly Serbs, fleeing their homes, over 800 houses were burned down, as were 19 Serb Orthodox churches and monasteries. By establishing ethnic enclaves, many of the 120,000 Serbs who fled Kosovo after the UN peacekeepers entered in 1999, could return. There are only about 80,000 Serbs still in Kosovo, compared to nearly 1.7 million Albanians.
If 80,000 is an accurate number I am a bit surprised. After the Albanians returned the reverse ethnic cleansing was pretty complete in some areas. A colleague of mine had a sister in Kosovo who lost her job teaching school because there were literally no Serbo Coation speaking children in the surrounding area.
April 14, 2004: Romania has given Afghanistan enough light weapons to outfit a light infantry brigade. The shipment consists of 1,500 Kalashnikov-type automatic rifles and 200 RPK light machine guns.
Is Romania do this overtly?
