ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001

Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL) a leading provider of high-speed Network
Transmission products, including Broadband Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology, is
demonstrating its new lines of value-added network transmission systems, Broadband
desktop modems, routers, and residential gateway products on display in Westell booth
No.2514 at SUPERCOMM 2001, June 5-7, at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Network Transmission Products

In the area of Network Transmission Products, Westell is launching a new line of HDSL4
products, new DS-3 Network Interface Units (MegaJack(TM) and Proact3(TM)), and a new
fiber-optic transmission system called "Op-T-Span". In addition, Westell will feature the
award-winning ASTS(TM) HDSL2 transmission system (with integrated DS3 Multiplexer, test
access, and protection switching) and new indoor/outdoor enclosures for T1, HDSL2, and
HDSL4 plug-ins.

"Our new high-speed transmission products for public network providers include plug-in units
and full systems design to operate with many types of local loop media including fiber optic
cables, twisted-pair copper, and coax. Our HDSL2 products are state-of-the-art, providing
full duplex 1.544Mb/s services over a single copper pair. Our HDSL2 products are completely
interoperable with the other major suppliers' HDSL2 products and systems. The new DS3
MegaJack platform includes a DS-3 Performance Monitoring NIU designed to operate on
coaxial cable DS-3 circuits, providing remote maintenance features in addition to full DS-3
performance monitoring. Our new fiber-optic transmission system, Op-T-Span, is used by
LECs, utilities, and wireless network providers to install DS1 services safely (using fiber-optic
cable) into a hazardous high-voltage environment - such as when a radio antenna site is
collocated with a high-voltage power tower", said Bill Murphy, Vice President of Marketing,
Westell Telco Access Products (TAP) business unit.

Customer Premise Equipment

Taking the lead in introducing technically advanced Broadband DSL products, the Customer
Premise Equipment (CPE) business unit of Westell will be demonstrating and displaying several
new ADSL solutions. These new ADSL solutions include the WireSpeed(TM) R570 Pro ADSL
Ethernet Proxy Router, WireSpeed R516(TM) ADSL Ethernet modem, WireSpeed(TM) R405
USB modem, WebShare Pro(TM) Small Business and Home Networking Residential Gateway
Solution, Access 4000(TM) Residential Gateway Solution and Access HRF(TM) Wireless
Networking Solution.

"Our new products being displayed at SUPERCOMM 2001 represent an exciting and significant
expansion of our Broadband product portfolio and reflect Westell's total commitment to
expanding our leadership position," said Brian Powers, Vice President of Sales & Marketing,
Westell CPE Business Unit.

"We are dedicated to supporting the profound and rapid changes evolving in today's
communications landscape with cost-effective products that connect multiple users within
the household and small office, and support a wide range of content changes," he said.
