"I strongly disagree." Hey, it's a free country, and I will defend to the death your right to disagree, even strongly, but I require some kind of logic beyond "Maybe this further complication would work" or "Any mark-to-market is preferable to no mark-to-market." Frankly and honestly, I have never seen any justification presented for this "two sets of books" approach other than those above. Although I know that there are sometimes good reasons for two sets of books, and don't dismiss such a suggestion out of hand, there needs to be some logical justification for it other than an increase in wheel-spinning in the accounting department.
