I don't know that ELND-005 has a great chance to make it, but I think it has enough of a chance (I model it at a 25% probability) to make an investment. There are two nice things about ELND-005 as a treatment:

1) In vitro and in rat models ( and hopefully in vivo), it directly interferes with the neurotoxic effects of amyloid rather than requiring that the amyloid be cleared from the brain for a therapeutic effect.

2) It doesn't seem to stimulate an immune response, unlike AAB-001. For mild-to-moderate patients, the immune reaction in the brain may be causing more damage at that point than any amyloid form, so avoiding any additional stimulation of the immune system is important.


If you are interested in TTHI as an investment, it also has a reasonably interesting T1/T2 diabetes compound partnered with Lilly, which at least provides some insurance against the high risk Alzheimer program.
