Looks kinda 'purty' back there in that shootin' range. Only shot pistols twice in my life - two dead men was enough for me. LOL Maybe when we all get rich we'll have a rich-man's shoot-out down to your place. (just targets) Reminds me of an experience that taught me - in the wrong hands their real dangerous. Story time...

Years ago when we use to drive wide-loads out to a South Dakota powerplant, we made a stop at a trashy 'ol truckstop in Indiana to get a repair. There was this awful smell all over the place, even in the restaurant where we ate. Found out the town was surrounded by pig farms which sent up billowy plumes of invisible stench. That's one smell that never leaves your mind - GOL (Gaggin Out Loud).

The guy who owned the garage (circa 1930's) carried a .357 magnum, holstered to his thigh. Kinda reminded me of a nasty version of 'Goober' as in 'Andy of Mayberry'.

It was around midnight by the time he finished fixing the air brakes. He had been drinking from a jug (no lie) all the while he was working. He was real snakey about this time and said he and his helper wanted to show us something behind a row of run-down wooden sheds. Me and my two buddies went around back with him, knowing we gotta keep an eye on these two guys. As we're all standing face to face in a circle, he draws the gun and fires 3 rapid three shots into the ground right at our feet.

Man, we were stunned. The concussion felt like someone just walloped your chest. When we gained our senses we jumped those two guys, took his gun away, and tied 'em up. Real scary stuff. There was a huge hole where the bullets went into the ground. (dug one out later - still have it)

We called the sheriff - who turned out to be his uncle. (I ain't making this up!) Can't remember that guys name, but the sheriff just laughed and said he's always doing something like this all the time - just a regular ol' cutup. He told us we'd done the right thing by not kickin' the tar out of his nephew. Asked if we wanted to press charges - we said no. He said we could go on our way.

Kinda all worked out in the end. In the confusion, everyone forgot about the repair bill - never paid a dime. By the time they figured it out we were long gone. LOL

Don't let children (or child-like adults) play with guns!
