Michael Jackson's latest malady? Seller's remorse. And he hasn't even sold anything yet.
Jackson and Julien's Auctions had previously announced an extensive and high-profile sale of the singer's possessions, including clothing, awards, his own artwork, and gifts given to him by other superstars. Now Jackson has filed suit, saying that he never gave the auction house permission to sell off some of his "priceless and irreplaceable" belongings, the Associated Press reports.
The auction house claims it was flaggergasted to learn of the suit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, and of Jackson's claims that the auction was "malicious, fraudulent, extreme, outrageous and without any legal justification whatsoever."
The auction is set for April. Jackson's MJJ Productions authorized the auction house to pick up the items from Neverland Ranch, but not to sell them without the singer's permission, according to the lawsuit.
But Darren Julien says that "there was no other intention when we picked up the items" but to put them up for sale. He did return some items that Jackson had requested, but he says in the Scotsman, "'We are not a mover or storage facility. We are still proceeding with the exhibitions and auction."
