Hiijacker,

You are absolutely 100% correct without question. The direct method is NOT covered by NeoMedia's patents. However, Neom's focus has never been on the direct method except to include it as a standard since it is already pervasive in Japan.

Unfortunately, this unequivocally tells me you need to do your research. I need to call into question whether you've read the plethora posts on this board describing the differences between the two methods...or you are simply not understanding the technology and its value proposition.

The direct method carries little value for brands, and does little in the way of security when compared with indirect. It is the "indirect" method that is of primary significance.

The indirect method carries valuable reporting that the ad agencies and brands lust after while simultaneously maintaining consumer privacy. It also offers enhanced security due to the unique functionality of the system.

The direct method is merely a URL embedded in a code, whereas the indirect method carries considerably greater value. If you understood the technology you would understand this point without question. It lies at the very foundation of what makes this technology so important.

The direct method "needs" to be included as a standard because it is recognized and bodes well for adoption internationally. However...it is of little consequence in the bigger picture.
