The degree is evident in how socially-acceptable immoral/unethical behavior has become in our country. One recent example, an admitted tax-evader is now Secretary of the Treasury, and no one finds that unacceptable?

I am not proposing a solution. Given human nature and the natural progression of civilizations, there is none. That does not mean that each individual cannot fight this erosion of values in his own life by adhering to the principle of taking action not based primarily upon his own self-interest, but rather based upon what will result in the greater good for the society of which he is an integral part.

There are without question many who, in fact, DO live their lives in this manner. If we all did, things would change, but, given the current circumstances, that is a scenario highly unlikely to occur in my lifetime.
