It absolutely stuns me that this is so hard to understand.

Type RCCH and check this is updated i think every three months and it sure looks like ftds to me..

You are looking at all the evidence you need to know exactly how many shares were FTD during all of those months. Can you not see that the highest number of FTDs EVER was in August of 2008 and that number was only 35 million shares?

Can't you see that in the chart? It's right there.

Do you see that immediately after that peak the number dropped? Do you?

That means that those shares were delivered and the FTDs were closed.

So the highest short position EVER could not have been greater than 35 million shares and even then most of those were delivered soon after.

Please look up the word 'cumulative'. It means that all shares that are FTD on the date of the data, no matter when they first failed to be delivered, are counted on that chart. It is a cumulative running total. As each share is finally delivered it is taken of that chart.

As you can see the last data point says that the last time the list was updated there were only 15 million shares short. That is a tiny percentage of the OS no matter what number you imagine the OS to be.
