1. Close them to new posting instead of wiping them
2. Have Meatloaf create a "closed to further posting" list, (like the "adopt-a-board" list maybe?) that would display the closed message boards for all to see
(This is long, Matt, ask somebody else to read this and give you the short version) ;)
1. Wiping nice iBoxes and stock-related content is not always a wonderful thing. For instance, a handful of stocks have duplicate boards that got way too big before someone pointed out the dupes a few years ago.... why not just close one of them and leave the content up? Nobody wants to wipe good, useful content.
2. Sometimes there are regrets after wiping a board. It would at least give a user some time to review and grab content they would like to use elsewhere on the site.
3. It would give you Admins another queue to review for action. Rather than making hasty decisions that you can't undo, you would have a place to go review and decide what's next. Like the jailbird list -- this is a good "purgatory" category. You could go review the queue and wipe later if it's necessary.
4. Leaving a board up, but closed to new posts, with a ticker field intact would prevent another user from creating the same board over and over again (i.e. warrant and preferred stock boards come to mind). Just close them to new posts, and they can't keep creating dupes...
This suggestion would apply to not only stock threads, but other non-stock boards as well... there are quite a few politics threads that are closed to new posting that COULD be later re-activated, if anybody cares about the topic some time later...
