I used to find Rush entertaining if I didn't listen to him too often but in my opinion he's a fool when he gets out of his element (satire and political commentary at which he's very good) and thinks he's an expert on anything. Economics, global warming, you name it. He isn't. He doesn't know how little he knows and that just makes him look stupid. The Democrats can do nothing smarter than to elevate Rush to spokesman for the Republican party. Rush believes it and the Republicans aren't smart enough to disclaim him.
