there has been a total of about 5 billion ounces of gold extracted since the begining of time acording to the world gold council. so, at 1,000 bucks an ounce, that's about 5 trillion dollars worth. how much of that can be purchased and stored, i don't know. that seems like a pittance compared to all the money in the world. it doesn't seem likely that if i was a trillionaire, i could buy that much gold.

but then, all the money in the world doesn't really exist in the form of currency either. it's mostly iou's. last fugure i saw, if you collected all of the u.s. currency in circulation you would have about 600 to 700 billion bucks. that ain't much. and it's stupid to hold currency anyway, it goes down in value.

as for the swiss bank accounts, there is no way in hell i would be taking that risk, even if i was a trillionaire. a few defaulted loans and, poof, it's all gone. too risky for me.

boy, am i glad i'm not superwealthy. LOL

all things multiply to the point of starvation.
