I seem to recall you were emphatically taking the "high-road" and claiming your clients were all worthy of Trust, etc.

Sorry, you cannot wash your soiled reputation so easily. IMO your actions contributed to the loss of tons of money by many who chose to believe you were careful about whom you represented.
